Very Basics of Product – Bit of History about Video Photographing and Recording

No one needs an introduction or definition when it comes to video photographing and recording. We live in an era where a 2-year-old knows to click pictures and record videos on cell phones. Yep, videography is nothing but simply capturing moving images on any electronic media. Photography has evolved and advanced in so many ways since the invention of the first camera named Obscura in the 4th Century BC.

From a simple recording to capture memories to surveillance for safety purposes today, video recording has come a long way. There were TVL(Tele- Vision Line)320 TVLto 1000tvlAnalogcameras, to begin with then High Definition known as HD started with 1mp i.e. technically 720p, 1.3mp 960p, 2mp 1080p, 3mp 1980p, 4mp, 5mp, 4k & 8k camera resolution and clarity compatibility with recorder and vice versa

Video surveillance has become more common nowadays as it is the most popular, preferred, and reliable method of security solution.

CCTV expanded as closed-circuit television uses video cameras to send out signals to a specific set of small monitors. You can operate CCTV systems non-stop or only when required depending on your needs.

The technology involved in Product – TVL(Tele-Vision Lines), Analog / HD (High Definition) Technology Format -CVI, TVI, Pixel rate / IP Surveillance (Internet Protocol) Technology

There are two technology paradigms to meet the demands for enhanced security tools. They are Analog Video Surveillance and Internet Protocol [IP] Video Surveillance.

Analog Video Surveillance:  Analog Video Surveillance is a closed architecture that has been in the security industry for about more than three decades now. The resolution of the traditional analog cameras was determined by the number of horizontal lines called TVL. However, with the new HD analog technology, you can record 720p HD resolution video This system can easily be mixed into your existing system as they also use standard coax cabling.

Before we proceed further, let us discuss the most popular analog video signals in the security camera market, namely, TVI, CVI, AHD, CVBS, and SDI.

TVI — Transport Video Interface is a transport technology that can transmit high-definition analog video over a coaxial cable. TVI became the most popular analog HD security camera technology in the United States since its release in 2014

CVI — Composite Video Interface is a high definition. CVI also works on a coaxial cable similar to TVI, but CVI has a different digitized transmission signalling.

AHD — Analog HD differs from TVI and CVI by video transmission signal digitization. Analog HD is popular in far east Asia such as Korea and Japan.

CVBS — Composite Video Baseband Signal is considered as the original analog standard definition video cameras in the security camera market. They are capped off at 960h, 700 analog TV lines resolution, and are not high definition.

SDI — Serial Digital Interface was developed as an alternative method of signal transmission to CVBS’ maximum capacity of 960h transmitting high definition video 1080p over coaxial cables. However, SDI’s signal transmission had a limitation of upto a maximum of 300 feet.
